Project
Supporting Energy Efficiency and Innovation for a Sustainable Transition in Algeria
Support to the Tunisian government for the design, implementation and deployment of the national ACTE programme
Short project description
This project is part of the strategic partnership between the UNDP and the National Agency for the Promotion and Rationalization of Energy Use (APRUE) aimed at supporting the implementation of the National Energy Management Program (PNME).
Its objective is to provide national authorities with strategic analyses and operational recommendations to strengthen the regulatory framework, guide sectoral planning, and support the deployment of structural energy transition projects in three priority areas:
-
Strategic study on the regulatory framework for energy efficiency in the building sector. This study conducts an in-depth analysis of the regulatory frameworks in force and proposes strategic recommendations for improving building thermal regulations (RTB) in Algeria, drawing on international best practices.
-
Strategic study on the deployment of sustainable mobility solutions. This study analyzes technological trends, international policies, and the existing Algerian framework, with a focus on captive fleets, in order to define a national roadmap for the deployment of low-carbon mobility solutions.
-
Strategic study on the uses of green hydrogen for industrial decarbonization. This includes a technical and economic analysis of the potential for integrating green hydrogen into energy-intensive industries, an assessment of the energy and climate impacts, and the identification of the regulatory, economic, and infrastructural conditions necessary for its deployment.
The project results aim to equip APRUE and public decision-makers to accelerate the operational implementation of the PNME and support the energy transition of the Algerian economy.
