Introduction of the European and Middle East Energy Award® in Morocco
Short project description
The project aims to to design and coordinate, on behalf of the Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency (AMEE), the deployment of a national strategy dedicated to supporting local sustainable energy action :
> Development and introduction of the Jiha Tinou - Middle East and Africa Energy Award (MEA) approach based on the European Energy Award, adapted to the Moroccan/ North African context;
> Support to three pilot Moroccan cities for the implementation of an action plan, the realisation of priority actions and the follow-up/monitoring and evaluation of local energy policies ;
> Projects carried out: Municipal energy accounting (Agadir); Solar heating of the municipal swimming pool (Chefchaouen); Photovoltaic solar roof (Town Hall, Agadir); Administration Travel Plan (Agadir); Public lighting diagnostic (Oujda); Energy Information Centre (Chefchaouen); Days dedicated to energy management (Chefchaouen)
Services provided
> General coordination of the project, and strategic advice to AMEE
> Assistance to three pilot municipalities for the the design and implementation of energy projects;
> Targeted technical assistance and training in relation to the projects ;
> Training and supervisionof local MEA/Jiha Tinou advisors ;
> Information and communication related to the project and the activities carried out.
